Vodafone and Coke Caught In Spam
Vodafone Hutchison Australia and Coca-Cola have been charged with sending spam in Australia. Vodafone, who sent 100,000 text messages to customers in October 2008 as part of a marketing campaign for Coca-Cola, has agreed to pay $110,000. The messages sent were a violation of the 2003 Australian spam act because they did not give recipients a way to unsubscribe from the message list or contact the sender to complain.
