Spyware is referred to as a program that was created for the sole purpose of gather information about a person without their knowledge. The spyware is downloaded to the user's computer without the user knowing it. It installs and works in the background in memory, recording every movement or keystroke the user makes. Once this information is attained, it is sent to the advertiser responsible for the program. [br][br]Spyware can get into the computer by means of a program that is attached to another program like shareware. When you download a shareware program, the spyware gets installed automatically as well. Other ways spyware gets on the user's computer is when the user visits a website or clicks through a pop-up. [br][br]A good example of spyware can also be a cookie, since cookies do collect information about the user, including the user's name, address, IP address, and maybe even credit card information. [br][br]Spyware is just like adware by the fact they serve the same purpose. They both get on the computer, tie up necessary resources, and cause problems for the user with needles pop-ups and other inconveniences. [br] |
