I just downloaded this software over the Internet and was shown some kind of documentation about accepting the installation of another program besides the one I downloaded. Could this be spyware? [br]

What you are facing is possible spyware installation. Spyware is usually downloaded as part of a program and installs along with the other program. But in this case you are told to accept the agreement to install the other program. The only problem is you aren't sure if that is spyware or not. [br][br]If you really want to play if safe, your best bet would be to not download anything from the Internet, unless you know the source of the download. This is especial;ly true if is shareware. Spyware has been known to be attached to shareware. So be careful when downloading that software. You may be putting yourself into a position you don't want to be in. [br][br]

Identity theft comes in many forms.

A person’s identity can be 'borrowed' for the purpose of creating fictional credit cards or a person’s entire identity can be usurped to the point where they can have difficulty proving that they really are who they claim to be.

Up to 18% of identity theft victims take as long as four years to realize that their identity has been stolen.

There are many ways to protect your personal identity and many steps you can take to prevent your identity from being stolen:

*Never give out unnecessary personal information
*Never provide bank details or social security numbers over the Internet
*Always remain aware of who is standing behind you when you type in your personal credit codes at ATM machines and at supermarket checkout swipe machines.
