Are credit repair offers by email known as spam? [br]

Credit repair offers have been known to be spam. The email claims you can erase all negative information from your credit report, or get a new credit file simply by applying for a new social security card. This is bogus and is nothing but a lie. You cannot legally remove accurate negative information from your credit report unless the company, who placed it there, requests it to be removed. You can write the company and request removal of the negative information, but that is up to the company to decide. In most cases negative information is removed after you pay the debt, or the statute of limitations runs out. [br]
