Unfortunately, scholarship scams are all over the Internet. It comes down to greed. People are so desirous to get rich quick, so they don't have to work for the rest of the lives, that they will take a chance and pull some kind of scam just to get rich. They collect the money, run, and resurface under a new name. [br][br]If you are a parent or student and you are applying for a scholarship, you need to look for signs that will tell you it is a scam. For instance, if the scholarship offer tells you that the money is guaranteed or your money back, this is obviously a scam, since no scholarship works this way. Also, you may be told you can't get this scholarship elsewhere. This is also a lie, so you don't want to believe it. One other way to tell if it is a scam is if they request you to use your credit card or bank account to hold your scholarship. This is a definite no-no. [br][br]Remember, that you don't pay anything to get a scholarship. You fill out an application and wait for the results. The money is given to you free. [br][br] |
