Based on what Margaret Whitman, CEO of eBay stated, only 27 auctions out of a million are actually involving scams. This is really good, however, Margaret said she wants to lower this number. [br][br]In the past, the only way to learn about a user is by the feedback system. This way you would know who had a great rating and who didn't. If the total ratings are 10 or more, the user gets a star rating. But if the rating is below zero, this user is banned from eBay. [br][br]The problem with the feedback system is that some users would cheat and have all their friends submit feedback to pump up their score, even if the person never did business with the user. To eliminate this problem, eBay changed the way feedback was done. Now, the only feedback that is recorded are the ones that relate directly to a transaction. Plus, eBay is providing free insurance in case a buyer becomes a victim of a scam. Plus, they are given buyers the option to have sellers verified by an independent party before any transaction takes place. [br][br]EBay is trying to do their part to curb scams and fraud, and their efforts are working. [br][br] |
