What is the best way to avoid getting scammed when applying for a rental car and dealing with the gas issue? [br]

Let's say you are planning a trip and you contacted a car rental company. They told you they had an economy car ofr $19.95 per day. You love this and book the car in advance. The day you arrive, you notice your contract is higher than the price quoted you. There are various reasons for this, and one of those reasons is the gas. What the car rental company will do is charge you for a full tank of gas ahead of time, charging you a reduced price for it. [br][br]The way to avoid this scam is to decline the extra charge and fill up the tank yourself. This way, you won't be putting a complete tank of gas, but only the amount you actually used. You save money because you are only paying for what you used, and not for the full tank. [br]
