Yes it is. Any time you get an email with an attempt to collect information from you without your authorization is considered phishing. It is a criminal and fraudulent attempt to get information from a user, such as a username, password, or credit card details, while masquerading as a company or someone else. [br][br]Because phishing has become so widespread, the government has taken steps to help curb and even eliminate it, by providing people with the way to report such incidences. Companies such as eBay, Amazon.com, and even banks, of which the scammer uses as a front, have put forth efforts to have such an attempt stopped. Most of them have instituted special emails so when consumers get this phishing email, they can forward it to the special email where the email can be investigated. [br][br] |
