If you apply for something at a website, a hacker could easily infiltrate that website, steal the name, address, and social security numbers of all the website owner's customers, then use that info to open accounts in the name of the victim. [br][br]This can hurt the victim since the victim may find later that accounts were opened in his or her name without the victim's authorization. The best way to avoid this from happening is to be careful what website you shop at. Make sure the website is secured before you use your credit card. [br][br] |
