I had a close friend of mine find out that he had a bankruptcy on his credit report, but yet he never filed. Was he the victim of identity theft?[br]

Unfortunately it sounds like your close friend was a victim of identity theft. It doesn't take much for it to happen. Perhaps someone stole his SSN without his knowing it. Or perhaps, someone recorded his SSN from his driver's license. Whatever the reason, your freind became a victim. [br][br]Again, it doesn't take much to become a victim of identity theft. This is why you have to take precautions to avoid such an event from happening to you. You have to become proactive with your credit and protect it at all costs. [br][br]
