Yes. If you go to a bank to open an account, and someone is close by, this person could capture your bank account information and use that against you. The person could then use resources and tools at his/her disposal to open an account in your name and use it to deposit counterfeit checks and try to withdraw that money. The scammer won't get caught but the person opening the account could end up getting in trouble. [br][br]The best way to avoid this is by making sure you do your banking at a reputable bank, and that the account rep takes you into his office where you have privacy. [br] |
