If you want to prevent yourself from be coming a victim of identity fraud there are steps you can take. You must not throw your ATM receipts credit card statements. credit cards, or bank statements in the trash in any usable form. If you must throw them out, shred them first so no part can be visible. You may want to invest in a shredder. They are not that expenses and can help you in the long run. [br][br]You must never give your credit card number over the phone unless you know exactly who it is. It is better that you call the company yourself if you wish to order merchandise. Either that or deal with only reputable companies you know. [br][br]Check your bank statement monthly and reconcile it. If you notice any discrepancies, report them immediately. Once the thief takes your personal and bank information, they can attack your bank. So make sure you keep aware of what is going on with your bank account. Some banks have fraud prevention as part of their service to you for your bank accounts. Use it for it will protect you. Also report any unauthorized transactions to the police as well. This way they can perform and investigation into the matter, and hopefully can catch the perpetrator. [br][br]If you ever lose your wallet for any reason, make sure you have a list of phone numbers to call. This way you can protect yourself. You never know who may have taken it. [br][br]You should also check your credit report at least once a year. Identity fraud could happen at any time without you even knowing it. So keep up on your report and notify the credit bureaus when you see anything that does not look like your account. Make sure they remove all entries that are suspicious looking for are questionable.
