With this type of fraud, what happens is the business receives a call requesting the answerer or receptionist to dial 90# to test for a problem on the phone line. Dialing this number will allow for the phone system to reach an outside line. [br][br]The problem with this phone scam or fraud is that if the phone system happens to be PBX, the caller is able to dial a long-distance number. This caller is not a repair man nor does he work for the phone company. [br][br]Make sure to train all your people not to respond to anyone who request that you dial 90#. If it is the phone company, they have their own equipment to test the line with. [br][br] |
