One type of fraud that is really causing a lot of trouble for people and is costing many taxpayers hundreds or even thousands of dollars is identity fraud. This is when someone assumes your identity to perform a fraud or other criminal act. It is nearly like identity theft, except with identity theft, in most cases the person is just using your identity to buy merchandise. It is still illegal but not necessarily fraud. [br][br]With identity fraud, however, the criminal stole your identity with the direct intent to commit fraud using your identity so he can get away with it. The people who perpetrate this act, do it by means of obtaining information from the victim. They do this by getting your information from a variety of sources including stealing your wallet, taking credit or bank states you may have thrown out in the trash. Other ways they get your information is by calling you over the phone and pretending to be someone from the victim's bank, claiming a security breach was undertaken, and for that purpose they need the victim's bank information to verify their records, so as to restore the victim's bank account. The criminal uses other means of contact like stopping by in person or doing business over the Internet. |

Many Internet users are unaware that most anti-virus programs quickly become out of date as new and more sophisticated viruses enter the world of cyber-space everyday.
Anti-virus software must be consistently updated in order to remain effective. In some cases it is necessary to buy an entirely new program to help keep your computer virus free.
Most anti-virus programs allow you to update the original program by downloading the newest and most recent updates to their virus protection system. These updates can then provide protection for your computer against new strands of viruses waiting to infect your computer.
