The best way to avoid a telemarketing fraud scheme is to know what to look for. You have to be a wise and educated consumer, because after you have been victimized, you will not be able to get your money back in many cases. So take precuations and learn prevention. [br][br]You must remember not to buy anything from an unknown company. Only deal iwth reputable people you know. Any reputable business will be glad to share their business practices with you if you enquire about them. They won't hide behind the door, so to speak. [br][br]If you do get an offer for a product, ask to see samples of request more information, this way you can study the material. This is the proper way to do business. Any legitimate company will be more than willing to send their literature to you if you request it. When you do get anything in the mail, and it involves a large investment of your money, always seek out an attorney to investigate the offer. You never know whether the offer is for real or not. [br][br]If you do get a company to call you, get their name, business name, telephone number, street address, mailing address, and busines license number. Then tell them to call you back in a day or so. If they refuse to give you any of the requested information, hang up immediately, if they haven't done so already. In many situations, the telemarketers will get nervous when you ask for vital information and will hang up quick. On the other hand, if they are agreeable to give you your requested information, do a little investigating and find out if the company actually exists. You can check with the consumer protection agency, Better Business Bureau, state Attorney General, or the National Fraud Information Center. One of these organizations will have the info you need. [br][br]Another telemarketing fruad to look out for is when they claim they will send a messenger to your home to pick up money from you, claiming the money is necessary to provide the service they agreed to give you previously. If you do reveive a call from a messenger, close the door and don't respond to the person. If the person refuses to leave, call the police. [br][br]These are just some of the telemarketing fraud schemes around. Learn these and remember them. Also learn the other shemes to. The more you know the better educated you will be. [br]
