Considering there is so much fraud on the Internet these days, how can one protect themselves from becoming a victim? [br]

Any time you have a situation online where people gather including chat rooms, social or video sites, or other means of communication are used like e-mail, there is bound to be some type of fraud involved. [br][br]As long as the product or service that is offered is based on false information or fraudulent representations dealing with the product, it is considered fraud. [br]The best way to avoid becoming a victim of Internet fraud, you must understand what the defrauder is doing and what schemes are currently being investigated so you will know what to avoid. The best thing to do is not believe everything you read. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Whatever you do, don't give out your personal data unless you know who it is and have dealt with that person before. If the person asking for your personal information wants to hide his identity, be  cautious and shy away from such an individual. [br]
