It looks like you were hit with an advanced fee scheme. This happens to be one of the most popular and constantly used frauds in the U.K., especially in Nigeria. [br][br]What happens with an advance fee scheme is that the victim ends up paying money to the schemer, thinking the transaction was legit. The only problem is that the check or money orders received are actually bogus and counterfeit. The victim doesn't know this at the time and sends the required balance back to the schemer. Within two weeks the check or money orders come back to the bank as having bounced for non-sufficient funds, or as being counterfeit, and the receiver of the money is now out of money, for sending money ahead of time, and also has to pay the bank back as well. So the victim loses plenty in the end. |
