The problem with purchasing a backup system for your computer is trying to decide which one to go with. Each one has its pros and cons. [br][br]We all know that doing physical back ups of your data is vital to your organization. As an organization you cannot afford to lose any data. So you have to back it up every so often, preferably every night. [br][br]When choosing media to run your backup system, you have decide which one to use. You could always go with CDs. CDs are cheap and copying data to them is easy. The problem with CDs is that they are unreliable. If the Cd gets dirty or smudgy it can lose the ability to read the data. Or, you pick up a CD and find a break in it somewhere. [br][br]You can always use tape as a backup medium. Tapes are ten thousand times as reliable as CD's. The only problem with tapes and tape drives is that they are more expensive. If you were to shop around for a good tape drive system, you may pay anywhere from $800 to $1000 or more. Tapes can costs as much as $40 and up. Despite the costs, tape media seems to be the best and most often used back up media.[br][br]Other media that can be used are external hard drives and online storage. External hard drives can work well if the size of the external hard drive is as large as the internal drive. The other option is online storage. This is good because you can access your backup data from any computer, since it is uploaded to a third-party server. The only downside to it is if you lose your Internet connect then you can't down or restore your files. [br][br]Overall though, based on popularity, tape drives are by and large the best and most used backup system around. [br]
