I heard that Mozy REmote Backup 1.6 is in beta version but it is really good for remove backups, plus it is free to use. Is this true? [br]

Yes. For many people backing up data can be annoying and costly, depending on the type of backup system you use. Having a system in place that is automated and free or low cost would help a great deal. This is what the Mozy Remote Backup program does. It is a free service that allows up to 2GB of storage and will also backup files that change automatically. If you have more files than 2GB can hold, you can pay for more storage in increments of five, ten, or twenty GB. Currently Mozy is still in the beta stage, but it does functionally fully and is available for the public to use. [br][br]The only catch to using the free service is you have to allow for weekly email advertisements. Plus, if you do not use the program within 30 days, all files you uploaded will expire, except for the newest backed up files. Also you do not have file sharing and can only restore your files so many times per month.

I just purchased a 1TB external hard drive to backup files on the 2 computers ( a Dell Dimension 3100 desktop w/ 160 GB HD & a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop w/ 120 GB HD) I own. I basically have 2 questions. The first is because both computers share some of the same programs will the backup consolidate the files of the shared programs (ie Picasa 3, Limewire, etc)? If I then delete programs from the internal drives can I run them from the external drive?
