If you just got the Sasser virus, you will need a tool to get rid of it. You could purchase a full-fledge antivirus program. But if you haven't done that and you are desperate, considering you just got the virus, there are virus removal tools you can use for free online to get rid of it. One such tool is called Stinger. This is a stand-alone utility that can detect and remove specific
viruses, especially the Sasser virus. This is not a substitute for a full-featured antivirus program, that provides much better protection. But it can take care of the Sasser virus or any other specific virus. [br][br]Stinger will utilize special scan engine
technology, including process scanning, digitally signed DAT files, and
scan performance optimizations, to catch the virus, and destroy it.[br][br]You can get Stinger from McAFee's website. You just go to the website, click to download and install the tool. Then run the Stinger program and it will do a scan of your hard drive. Once the virus is found, the program will automatically repair it. If it is unable to repair it, Stinger will delete the file. [br][br]You should be able to get a version of this antivirus removal tool from Symantec, Trend Micro, and Dr. Solomon. It may have a different file name, but will still work the same way. [br]

Spyware has many ways of getting onto your computer, such as:

When you download programs - particularly freeware, or peer-to-peer sharing programs.

More covertly, spyware can install itself just by you visiting certain sites, by prompting you to download an application to see the site properly.

ActiveX controls. These pesky spyware makers will prompt you to install themselves while using your Internet browser
