It appears that way from reading about it on the Internet recently. Based on a story by The Gazette, Quebec health officials did fight a computer virus recently. The virus seemed to have ripped through various computer systems at many health-care institutions. This virus affected hospitals, CLCSs, and nursing homes. The effect of the virus has caused the administrative departments of these facilities to go into slowdown mode. Unfortunately many computer files may have been damaged including patients' files. [br][br]The good part about it is the patients' privacy was not affected or compromised in any way, shape, or form. The virus seemed to have attacked their older servers that were the most vulnerable to attack. At least patient services were not affected. [br][br]You would think that health care professionals concern themselves with taking care of health-related viruses. Now they have to worry about computer viruses as well. [br][br] |
