How important is it to keep the operating system updated in order to avoid adware from affecting a computer? [br]

It is very important to keep your computer updated. What usually happens with adware, and spyware to, is that certain leaks or vulnerabilities in the operating system and even in the browser, can cause adware to get on your PC without you knowing it. [br][br]When an operating system or browser is not updated frequently, there can be loopholes that develop. These loopholes can cause many problems because spyware and adware programs can download and install through these holes. Your browser should have at least service pack 2 or 3 installed. [br][br]

Hello,

This is very important to keep your computer and adware because some viruses can work alongside spyware/adware to make detection and removal extremely difficult.

Spyware has many ways of getting onto your computer, such as:

More covertly, spyware can install itself just by you visiting certain sites, by prompting you to download an application to see the site properly.

ActiveX controls. These pesky spyware makers will prompt you to install themselves while using your Internet browser
