How Adware Affects Your PC

If you're a computer user then you probably use computers on a daily basis to help with lots of important tasks. There are, however, a lot of computer problems which can slow your PC down and stop it from being quite as reliable.

Ads

One very common problem with the internet is adverts. Although there are adverts which appear and even pop up on websites these aren't really a major problem. You really do have a problem when you start seeing hundreds of popup adverts.

Sometimes users will see these adverts before they even start visiting websites. If this is the case then you are probably suffering from adware.

What Is Adware?

Adware is a major problem and is thought to affect around 90% of computers. Adware is very similar to spyware because it spies on your computer and tries to deliver adverts that you will be interested in.

Adware started as a harmless piece of software. It was designed as a way for software developers to make money even when software is given away for free. However, adware now displays hundreds of adverts which can cause your computer to slow down or even crash.

Where Does Adware Come From?

The internet may be very useful but it also exposes your computer to a number of risks. Whenever you download anything to your computer it could potentially contain viruses or other malware. This includes the risk of adware being secretly installed on your computer.

If your computer doesn't have security software then it's likely that it will be infected with adware and other malware.

Removing Adware

To remove adware from your computer you need a quality adware removal scanner. Don't fall for the claims of many adverts on the internet though. You need to be very careful to choose a reliable scanner which will correct problems rather than create more of them for you.

The best anti-adware applications will help to protect your computer as well as fix the errors. These include resident shields to ensure that your computer isn't infected again with adware.

As well as adware scanners, you also need a good all-round security application to protect your computer. A virus scanner and firewall are two essential components to ensure your computer is protected from all threats.

Once adware has been removed you should run the scan on a regular basis to ensure that your computer is always as quick as it possibly can be. Spyware and adware both need to be dealt with very seriously.
