All-in-One Software: ThreatFire

ThreatFire, formerly known as CyberHawk, is a company that specializes in providing users with behavior-based security.  Their latest security solution, ThreatFire 3, keeps your computer safe against malicious items such as viruses, Trojans, spyware and many other crippling threats.  This program remains amazingly efficient without having to rely on standard signature updates.  ThreatFire performs its magic by continuously analyzing the behavior of applications and processes on a user's system.  It then immediately alerts you of all suspicious activity in which the content can be blocked or allowed.

While ThreatFire is effective on its own, this software becomes a full-featured internet security suite when combined with traditional anti-virus and firewall applications.  Such powerful combinations make your system virtually impenetrable to outside attacks.

ThreatFire 3 comes ready to use right out of the box.  This program doesn't require a lengthy, difficult configuration process, though it offers many customizable options capable of enhancing protection.

Unique Security

ThreatFire completely distinguishes itself from your basic anti-virus software.  Typical applications are normally required to first identify a threat before they can provide solid protection against it.  Upon detection, protection is typically provided from a signature update that must be first written by an expert and delivered to a database.  During this process, a large window of opportunity and time is left open where threats go undetected, penetrate the security software and infect your computer.  ThreatFire uses technology that keeps the scanner fresh and aware of deceptive infections.

This program is very user-friendly and not only protects your computer against common infections, but also blocks more sophisticated threats such as keyloggers, rootkits and buffer overflows.  When ThreatFire 3 detects unusual activity, it displays an alert and provides adequate details regarding the potential threat.  If a known threat is detected, the program automatically quarantines it, allowing you to sit back with no further action required.  If new or unknown threats are detected, ThreatFire displays an alert that allows you to quarantine or grant access to the content.  It adds ease to the decision making process by providing detailed information that helps determine the legitimacy of the content in question.

Some of its newest features include an on-demand scanning component that provides additional protection.  It also comes equipped with a handy cleanup utility that sweeps your system clear of virtual debris.

Compatibility

ThreatFire 3 is a highly compatible security solution and integrates seamlessly with many popular anti-virus products.  This software has been known to enhance previous versions of CA, Webroot, Symantec and McAfee programs.  ThreatFire even has the ability to tremendously enhance the protective capability of basic security applications such as Trend Micro's Internet Security 2007.

While ThreatFire is compatible with many competitive brands, innovations made in the new release prevents it from being installed on a system running a previous Cyberhawk application.  Cyberhawk users making an upgrade must first remove that software before installing ThreatFire 3.

ThreatFire performs on various Microsoft platforms including Windows Vista, Windows XP Service Pack 1 and 2 for the Home, Pro and Media Center editions, Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 and Windows 2003.  This program requires a minimum of 15 MB of disk space for installation.

Spyware has many ways of getting onto your computer, such as:

When you download programs - particularly freeware, or peer-to-peer sharing programs.

More covertly, spyware can install itself just by you visiting certain sites, by prompting you to download an application to see the site properly.

ActiveX controls. These pesky spyware makers will prompt you to install themselves while using your Internet browser
